We’ve been around since 2017, and are ready for a refresh.

Word, Ink. has grown from humble beginnings in 2017, when Lauren started offering marketing and communications support that was focused on providing strategy, content and outreach services. Conner joined her in 2021 to bring his brand marketing and graphic design expertise, rounding out Word, Ink’s services very well. For six years, Word, Ink. has helped companies large and small with their strategic marketing and communications direction, and fulfilling accompanying tactics—mainly, copywriting, graphic design and public relations programs.

In 2023, after having worked with two very unique organizations, Lauren realized she wanted to focus more intentionally on organizational and strategic communications as a service, as the vast majority of her clients’ problem areas stemmed from inconsistency across departments internally and lack of cohesive communications externally. She realized that she could positively impact her clients on an even greater scale by using her ability to identify areas that need improvement and apply strategic insight to prepare a clear path forward. Although Word, Ink. has always offered this as a service, it will now be at the core of Word, Ink’s offerings. Another key area of focus will be branding, as it’s vitally important for communications and branding to be best friends.

Now, you may be wondering, “what the heck is organizational and strategic communications?” Believe it or not, Lauren signed up for this major in college because she thought, “I like organization and love to write and communicate!” Little did she know, the major was referring to organizations, but she wasn’t far off, as she soon came to realize that many organizations are indeed unorganized.

The practice of organizational and strategic communications has to do with guiding an organization from its current to desired state. This involves a thorough analysis of the company’s culture, mission, vision and core values, and further assessing the company through direct observation, conversation and research to determine solutions to improve organizational effectiveness internally and externally. All of this will inform a comprehensive strategic plan that will help guide the way forward. Word, Ink. will also offer services such as branding, public relations, graphic design and coaching to help tackle organizational effectiveness from all angles.
